What’s the difference between Commencement and Graduation?
While it is often referred to as “Graduation”, Commencement is a ceremony to celebrate those students who have or are projected to complete their graduation requirement over the recent academic period.
Graduation is the term used to mark the successful and official completion of a student’s graduation requirements for their chosen academic degrees, minors, and/or certificates. Graduation must be applied for at your campus’ Registrar’s office.
Commencement is coordinated by a group or committee for each campus whereas each campus’ Registrar’s office is responsible for evaluating each candidate’s record after final grades are posted.
