Aloha mai kākou. ʻO Akiko Gardner koʻu inoa piha a no Yokohama, Īapana mai au. Aloha everyone, my name is Akiko Gardner, and I'm from Yokohama, Japan. My major is Hawaiian and Pacific Studies. I'm grateful to all of my family, friends, and nā kumu (wonderful professors) for their support. I hope I will be able to continue my academic journey in the future. 'O Leeward kaʻu kula punahele (Leeward is my favorite school). Mahalo for everything. I had a great time.
When our younger daughter, Anna started college, I decided to challenge going to Community College with her. Writing English paragraphs and using a computer were extremely difficult for me because I had never typed anything by a computer. Also, I was hopeless at studying math. However, Anna was a great teacher for computers and math. My husband fixed my English sentences patiently. Thanks to them, I overcame my difficulties and completed my studies.
