This moment would not be possible without the amazing support system that I have developed over the last few years. I'd like to thank my mentors for guiding and encouraging me throughout high school and college. I would also like to thank my family. Without them, I would not have the drive and dedication that I have today. More specifically, I'd like to thank my mom. You've loved me at my worst and my best. I can never thank you enough for everything you've done. You are my muse, my world, and my greatest supporter. I'll love you through it all mom. I can't wait to begin this new chapter of my life!
On my 12th birthday, my dad gifted me a book titled "A Letter to My Daughter" by Maya Angelou. The messages of that book would resonate with me throughout my entire life. As I developed a love for Maya Angelou and the eloquence she exudes in her writing, I have grown to love several of her quotes. One of the most memorable quotes from her is from the poem "Still I Rise".
"You may write me down in history with your bitter, twisted lies. You may trod me in the very dirt, but still, like dust, I'll rise."
